The story behind the triple art switch plates.



Autumn Purple, red and oranges on Pale golden yellow triple switch plate: This switch plate has a pale yellow foil base coat. After firing the base coat, a dark purple enamel is sifted over the entire switch plate, then pushed around to create the outline for the images. The next two to three firings involve adding the deep orange, pale manganese and red; for each firing, most colors are a combination of two to three colors.

Black Art on Foil triple switch plate: This switch plate has a pale yellow foil base coat. After firing the base coat, a black enamel is sifted over the entire switch plate, then pushed around to create the the images. This switch plate shows the second step for many of the art plates, but in this case, no colors were added.

White Images on Blue Velvet triple switch plate: This switch plate has a rich sparkly blue base coat that looks like blue velvet. Next a white enamel is sifted over the entire switch plate and pushed around to create the images.

Red and Green Images triple switch plate: This switch plate has a pale yellow foil base coat. After firing the base coat, a black enamel is sifted over the entire switch plate, then pushed around to create the outline for the images. The next two to three firings involve adding the reds, oranges, pink and green; for each firing, most colors are a combination of two to three colors.

Sea Green Color Images triple switch plate: This switch plate has a thin black base coat. Next, a light opague enamel is sifted over the entire switch plate, then it is pushed around so that the base coat is revealed, leaving the opaque enamel for the image base. Next, four colors are added, usually with two or three of the other colors combined. After firing the switch plate, the previous step is repeated with the addition of two colors sifted onto the entire switch plate.

Color Images on blue-black triple switch plate: This switch plate has a blue-black base coat. Next an opaque white enamel is sifted over the entire switch plate and pushed around to create the images. Next the pink, yellow, orange, purple, blue and green colors are added over the white images with two more firings.

Color Images on black triple switch plate: This switch plate has a black base coat. Next an opaque white enamel is sifted over the entire switch plate and pushed around to create the images. Next the pink, yellow, orange, purple, blue and green colors are added over the white images with two more firings.

Purple Images on red triple switch plate: This switch plate has a pale yellow foil base coat. After firing the base coat, a purple enamel is sifted over the entire switch plate, then pushed around to create the base for the images. The next two to three firings involve adding the more purple, red and yellow for each firing.

White Images on Black triple switch plate: This switch plate has a thin black base coat. Next a white enamel is sifted over the entire switch plate and pushed around to create the images.

Color Images on Cobalt triple switch plate: This switch plate has a blue base coat. Next an opaque white enamel is sifted over the entire switch plate and pushed around to create the images. Next the pink, yellow, purple and green colors are added over the white images with two more firings.
